Pray for the organisations that minister to young people, both in the UK and overseas, who are underprivileged, refugees worldwide, the homeless and those suffering with various disabilities.

For those who work to support the rights of children and young people. For the work of the Red Cross, Children in Need, Save the Children and many others.

An Evening with Eddie Gray – Footballing legend, Eddie Gray, of Leeds United and Scotland fame, will be coming to Wetherby on Friday 29 September at 7.30pm at Wetherby Sports Association. Tickets are £15 each and are on sale from the Parish Office. Proceeds go to the Nepal Project. All are very welcome. Thank you. Steve Taylor

 

MacMillan World’s Largest Coffee Morning – This will be held from 9.00am to 12 noon on Saturday 30 September in the Church Centre. A tombola and handmade cards will be available. All very welcome. Thank you. Mary Hare

 

The Children’s Society – Talk and Afternoon Tea. We are holding a talk by Martin & Jill Fish and afternoon tea on Thursday 5 October at Kirk Deighton Village Hall at 2.30pm. Martin Fish is a RHS Advisor, columnist and broadcaster. Tickets are £10 each and are available from Carol Keenleyside 01937 581332 or Jill Rose on 01937 586640.

 

Harvest Supper & Fun Quiz on Saturday 7 October at 7pm – it will be a great night! Come and enjoy cottage pie and apple crumble, in the Church Centre. Tickets are £7.50 each or £20 for a family, BYO wine, and are available from the Parish Office 583074, Jean Heaton or Audrey Spivey Donations of raffle prizes would be appreciated, thank you.

 

Esther Ladies – Embrace Women’s Day on Saturday 14 October at St John’s, Sharow, Ripon from 10am to 4pm. Tickets cost £10, includes coffee, cake, not not lunch. If you interested in attending, there is a ‘sign up’ sheet at the back of church. Thank you. Stroma McDermott

 

Confirmation 2018 – The confirmation course is slightly different this year, being for adults and young people across the Deanery, and will include interactive worship, stories, teaching and guest speakers on lots of exciting topics to help people learn about faith and how to live a lifetime in faith. There will also be a weekend residential stay in November. The course starts on Sunday 15 October at St Aidan’s School. Holy Land Pilgrimage 2018 - Monday 26 November to Monday 3 December.

A pilgrimage to the Holy Land offers the opportunity to ‘walk in the steps of Jesus’, visiting some of the various places and sites associated with His life and ministry. A New Reader – Lorna.  At 11.00am on Saturday 7 October, in Ripon Cathedral, Lorna Johnson will be licensed as ‘Reader’ for our parish. Lorna has worked hard to complete her training and will be fully authorised to minister. We look forward to Lorna’s ministry and pray for God’s blessing to equip her for the role.
