Suggestions for Prayer

Wednesday is St Cecilia’s Day, Patron Saint of Music, when we can give thanks for the gift of music and for those at St James’ who faithfully provide music and singing in our worship.  Wednesday is also observed as ‘Red Wednesday’, when we can remember and pray for God’s blessing on the many projects throughout the world providing pastoral and spiritual care often in the face of persecution.

An Evening with Bishop Nick – Religion and Violence - Wednesday 22 November at 7.30pm at St James’ Church.  Why is violence so often associated with religion? All are welcome to an evening with Bishop Nick when this issue, that besets our world, will be discussed. Brendan

Sunday Club at the Christmas Fayre - The Sunday Club children will be selling Golden Crackers again at this year’s Fayre - £1 each or £5 for 6. Find a Golden Ticket and win a prize - 200 crackers – 100 amazing prizes! Thank you. Lynda Breen

Embrace, the Body Image Movement – One woman’s journey to inspire everybody – a special film screening on Sunday 26 November at 7.30pm at The Engine Shed, Wetherby. Christmas Crackers – Saturday 2 December 2-4pm in the Crypt, St James’ Church. An afternoon of Christmas crafts and activities for primary school aged children (4-11 years). Service of Service at 11am on Sunday 3 December ‘For the son of Man came not to be served, but to serve …..’  Do come and join us for a service with a difference, most of the service will take place outside our Church building as acts of service. Our time will begin in Church at 11am, a prayer will send us on our way to bless others through acts of service. At 12.15pm we will gather back in the Church Centre to share our stories over a simple lunch. Val Lumsden

Advent Carol Service at 6.30pm – Sunday 3 December. We invite you all to join in with the Friends of Wetherby Parish Church Music in support of the St James’ Church Advent Carol Service. Light refreshments will be served after the service. Thank you The Friends Committee.

 

Service of Light – Following the Service of Light on Sunday 29 October, a total of £218.20 was raised for Martin House hospice care for children and young people. Thank you. Brendan

 

Pantomime Thursday 28 December at 2pm. Friends have a few tickets available to the congregation for this year’s ‘Musicians Panto Outing’ to York to see Beauty and the Beast.
