Suggestions for Prayer

Please remember in your prayers the 20 of us who, tomorrow, will begin our pilgrimage to the Holy Land. We shall spend 4 days in and around Jerusalem and 3 days in the north around the Sea of Galilee, visiting some of the sites where the important events in Jesus’ life and ministry took place.

This week Wetherby Churches pray for: Those struggling with Mental Health issues.  


St James’ Bereavement Support Coffee Morning– Saturday 1 Decemberfrom 10am to 11.30amin the Church Centre. A time to meet those others who have been bereaved, to talk and to listen. Please do come along for a cup of tea or coffee, delicious refreshments and a chat. Val Lumsden


Posada – Mary and Joseph will be setting off from Church on Sunday 2Decemberthis year. They require a place to stay for each night during Advent and would love to be included in your family activities. If you would like to host them, please sign the sheet at the back of Church or speak to Sarah Sharp (07500 262306).


On Sunday 2 December Martin Houseis holding its Santa Run in Wetherby.We have been advised that there may be some minor disruption and diversions for traffic. Everyone should still be able to get to Church. Brendan


Christmas Crackers on Saturday 8 December from 2pm to 4pm. An Afternoon of Christmas crafts in the Church Cryptfor primary school aged children. For more information, please pick up a leaflet at the back of the Church. We need volunteers to set up and at the event, if you can help, please sign up on the sheet at the back of Church. Thank you. Follow The Star– Archbishops Justin & John have produced a guide for the Christmas season. £5 buys ‘Follow The Star’ guide and a Christmas box, courtesy of the charity In2Out, for a young person spending Christmas in Wetherby YOI. The guides can be found at the back of church. Thank you. Brendan


Friends of Wetherby Parish Church Music

Friends Invitation Service on Sunday 2 December at 6.30pm. Everyone is welcome to join us for this year’s Advent Carol Service and afterwards for light refreshments at the back of Church.

Coffee Morning with Carols on Saturday 8 December at 9.30am. This traditional event will be held in the Church Centre, festive music will be sung by the Church and Gospel choirs. Mince pies, coffee and mulled wine will be served.

Pantomime – Thursday 3 January 2019– this year we are going to the panto at Harrogate Theatre for their matinee performance of Jack and the Beanstalk. The coach will leave the Cluster of Nuts carpark at 1pm. There are still a few tickets left for members of the congregation and we would ask for a contribution of £15 pp, this includes the theatre ticket and the coach. Charity Carol Service on Monday 10 December at 7.30pm at St James’ Church – This year’s chosen charity is St Gemma’s Hospice. Tickets are £5.00 and are available from Jean Heaton, Sheila Guest or the Parish Office. Please come and join us at this popular event and support St Gemma’s Hospice. Thank you. Christingles– This year we will be making the Christingles on Sunday 23December at 2pm in the Centre Coffee Lounge. Anyone wishing to help is very welcome. Please let me know if you can assist. Thank you. Mary Hare 01937 585158


Remembrance Tree– There will once again be a Remembrance Tree in the Church grounds, which will be illuminated on Advent Sunday, 2 December, and remain lit until Epiphany, 6 January. If you would like to dedicate a light, please pick up a form from the back of church or from the Parish Office. Val Lumsden


Christmas Day Lunch from 12 noon to 3pm. Churches Together will be serving a traditional Christmas Lunch at St James’ Church Centre.
