Suggestions for Prayer
Pray we may keep this Holy Week as an opportunity to grow more closely to Jesus. That the different services and house groups will give time for reflecting on the depth and generosity of God’s love seen in the pain and suffering of the Crucifixion. That we will be the more able to rejoice in Jesus’ glorious victory demonstrated in the Resurrection. Let us meditate on Jesus’ words to the disciples in Gethsemane: “Could you not keep watch for one hour?”
Pray for the people in the Spofforth Hill area of Wetherby: Chatsworth Drive, Carlton Approach, Marston Way, Ullswater Drive, Langdale Close, Ullswater Rise.
Churches in Wetherby are asked to pray for: All those who are persecuted for their faith. Derek Taylor would very much appreciate your prayers for himself and son, Steve, while they travel in Malawi between 18 April-7 May.
Youth Drop-in for Y7-11 on Tuesday 16 April from 10-12 noon in the Centre. Come along for a bacon butty, toast, games, ping-pong, Easter crafts or just to chill! Thank you. Sarah Sharp
St James’ School Easter Service on Thursday 18 April at 2.15pm – All are welcome to join the pupils and staff from St James’ Primary School here in Church for their Easter celebration. Sarah Sharp
CMS Supper on Friday 3 May at 7pm at St Mark’s Church, Leeds Road, Harrogate. Tickets cost £10.00 and the speaker is Dr Corrie Verduyn, who speaks on ‘The Challenge of having a baby in Africa’. Tickets from the Parish Office or Tim Cundy 01423 569135. All very welcome. Derek Taylor

Easter Day Service and Breakfast – Sunday 21 April at 6.00am – If you would like to join us, please sign the sheet at the back of Church, so we have an idea of how many people we are catering for.
It has been suggested this year we have bacon butties, as well as our usual non-cooked breakfast, however, we need a volunteer/s. If you would like to help with this, please let me know. We also need people to read the lessons and to help set up the room in the Church Centre on Saturday 20 April at 4.00pm. If you can assist in any way, please indicate on the sheet when you sign your name. Thank you. Marilyn Smith
Calling all knitters and crocheters – Your church needs you! This year, we hope to do another mini mission of yarn bombing Wetherby town centre, as part of Thy Kingdom Come. So we need your skills. There will be patterns at the back of church, which Ross Richardson is kindly providing. Last year, people were so blessed by the event, so with your help we can do it again. Needles at the ready! Stroma
Adult Baptism/Confirmation Preparation – We are holding 4 adult baptism/confirmation classes on evenings in May and early June for all those who would like to be baptized and/or confirmed. This is always an exciting milestone in our lives, as we affirm our faith as followers of Jesus and as we grow in our belonging. If you would like to find out more, please let David and Sandra York (dwyork@btinternet.com) or Stroma (520512 email stroma.mcdermott@ntlworld.com) know and we can email you further information and confirm dates with you.
Easter Flowers – If you would like to make a donation towards the cost of the Easter Flowers, there will be a plate at the back of Church. Any surplus will go into the general flower fund. The Flower Group thank you for your continued support and encouragement, which is much appreciated. Shirley Fawcett
The St James’ Email Prayer Chain – for email prayer chain requests, please email Rosie Rooke mail@rosierooke.plus.com or telephone 01937 580673.
